Trumpet Networks, the Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity specialists, introduces WANpatch, a unique, cost-effective alternative to building a complete set of backup WAN connections. With WANpatch, if your building-to-building WAN fiber line, for example, is broken due to construction activity, your staff or Trumpet technicians can immediately install a pre-configured, temporary microwave connection, or “patch,” that stays in place until your original connection is repaired. Your WAN is up and running right away with WANpatch.
WANpatch is typically a small fraction of the cost of a backup network and can be purchased as a stand-by service or as a customer-owed, pre-configured and ready to deploy customer owned solution.
WANpatch is perfect for customers that can tolerate a brief loss of connectivity while the patch is put in place and who have line-of-sight or near line-of-sight visibility from the rooftops of the buildings to be connected or from nearby towers to the building rooftops.
Here’s how WANpatch works . . .
Your business or institution enters into a WANpatch contract with Trumpet, and
• pays a monthly fee for WANpatch protection or
• agrees to purchase a WANpatch replacement connection.
In either case, we evaluate your building-to-building connections to determine the most effective emergency backup technology – typically point-to-point microwave, WiMAX, fiber or free space optics (laser) – depending on your specific needs.
We design the WANpatch specifically for your WAN and define the complete emergency deployment process.
We establish a written quick-set storage and deployment protocol for the WANpatch and store the ready-to-deploy WANpatch equipment, either
• on your premises or
• at a nearby service facility that is part of our national network of trusted WAN technicians.
If one of your WAN connections fails, your staff (whom we can train in the quick-set installation of the WANpatch) or our experienced technicians are immediately dispatched to install the patch.
Your broken WAN connection is soon up and running while the primary connection is being repaired. After the primary connection is repaired, the WANpatch is removed and stored, ready to be re-deployed in the event of another failure.
WANpatch provides a flexible, quickly deployable emergency replacement connection for up to ten primary building-to-building connections at a small fraction of the cost of installing a complete set of backup WAN connections.
WANpatch is ideal for:
• municipal governments
• school districts
• university, college, and business campuses
• housing complexes
• military and civilian airports
• many other applications
